HotShot Successfully use at Australian Mine

Application: Coal mine

Location: Muswellbrook Coal Mine

Product: HotShot

Solution: A HotShot blast was conducted on the 5th of April 2006 at Muswellbrook Coal Mine. This shot was located in Muswellbrook Open Cut #1 in the overburden above the Lewis Coal Seam. The aim was to conduct a bigger than normal size blast and to collapse overburden into the underground galleries within the Lewis coal seam to allow safe mining of the overburden to proceed. Furthermore,  it was a requirement to keep vibration and air blast within acceptable levels. The blasting in this area was considered "hot" ground. MCC considers "hot" ground as between 50 degrees C and 70 degrees C, no holes over 70 degrees C were charged.
